Description

Plans for a sliding seat rowing unit you can build yourself. The frame is made from either good quality plywood or hardwood. The outriggers are laminated from thick veneer of 3mm okume plywood over a form/

We provide full size plans for the outriggers from along with instructions. There are detailed scale drawing (not full sized) for the rower frame. Some woodworking skill and tools are required. You need a way to cut dado’s in the frame. But overall it is fairly easy project for anyone with basic wood working skills and tools.

We looked at a lot of options for making a slide seat, but when it was all said it done it just didn’t make sense. We just couldn’t make anything that would compete with the quality and cost of what we could buy. So we will furnish you with information on where to buy the sliding seat hardware and track.

As I write this (2012) you can build the rowing unit (minus oars) for around $200.

This unit is designed to fit our boats but could be used in many others. You will just have to figure out a way to secure in your your boat.

Overall lenght is approx. 56″.
The seat is 7″ +/- high.
The oarlocks are 16″ +/- high.(The outriggers can be easily built lower or higher by altering the form)
You can build the otutriggers for either 8′ or 9′ long oars.
